Science 🧬

Today in science we learnt all about rainbows 🌈  A rainbow is a beautiful, colorful arc that appears in the sky. It is created when sunlight shines through tiny water droplets in the air, usually after a rainstorm. The raindrops act like tiny prisms, bending and separating the sunlight to reveal a bright spectrum of seven colors.  We then made our own rainbow using Skittles and warm water.  In continuous provision we made paper rainbows - they looked amazing.

🧪Science🧪 ICE

Today’s big question was - “What happens to water when it gets very cold?”

To start we looked at some images of ice in different forms - icicles, icebergs, frozen lakes, ice cubes.

The children were very knowledgeable and knew straight away that when water gets very cold it turns into ice. 🧊 We then had a great time in our tuft tray. The children tried to melt the ice by rubbing it, blowing on it and holding it in their hands for as long as possible.  By the end of the afternoon we have no ice left.

Well done Reception ⭐️⭐️⭐️

In science we have been learning about the body, the children have enjoyed learning about their body parts. This week we looked at how amazing our hands and feet are! We even compared the sizes of our hands on our chart.
