Ethos Group and Mothers’ Union Hospital Visit

 

Today, our Ethos Group representatives from Years 5 and 6 had the privilege of meeting with Pat and Christine from the Mothers' Union to deliver the care packages they have worked so hard to create, to Tameside Hospital. They were warmly welcomed by the dedicated staff in the A&E and AMU departments, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude and amazement at the incredible number of care packages donated. Staff shared how these thoughtful gifts will make a real difference to so many patients and their families.

The children reflected on what a valuable and rewarding experience it had been, recognising the positive impact that acts of kindness can have within the wider community. As courageous advocates, they identified a need, created a plan and followed it through to the finish line with dedication, compassion, and determination. Their commitment to serving others is a wonderful example of our school's values in action and demonstrates the importance of working together to support our local community.

A huge well done to every member of the Ethos Group for their enthusiasm, hard work and contribution throughout this inspiring project. You have made your school and community incredibly proud!

Our Ethos Group have been busy supporting the Mothers' Union at St Mary's as they celebrate an incredible 150 years of service and support within communities.

Working together, the children helped to create hygiene care packs for patients arriving at Tameside Hospital who may have no personal belongings, limited support from family or friends, or who find themselves in difficult circumstances. To support the project, the children organised a raffle and successfully raised £45 towards the cost of the items needed for the packs.

The children were involved throughout the process, helping to purchase supplies and spending an afternoon alongside representatives from the Mothers' Union assembling an amazing 150 hygiene care packs. Through this experience, the children developed a deeper understanding of compassion, service and the importance of supporting others in times of need. They demonstrated our Christian values in action, showing kindness, responsibility and citizenship while working collaboratively with members of the wider community.

This has been a wonderful example of different generations coming together to make a positive difference to the lives of others. The project has helped the children recognise that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact on someone who is experiencing a difficult time.

The next exciting step will be delivering the care packs to Tameside Hospital in the coming weeks, ensuring they reach those who need them most.
