We love. We learn. We flourish.
Thursday the 7th March was National World Book Day.
Here at St. Mary's, we like to stretch this national celebration day into a week so that children and staff can really immerse themselves in the theme and share together our love of reading.
This year, we celebrated that children are more likely to enjoy reading when their choices are championed and reading is made fun. We looked at how reading has the amazing power to transport minds and make us curious.
The week involved book quizzes, author visits, live online workshops with illustrators and reading performances to each class by Year 6. Throughout the week, classes looked at themed books and completed activities relating to them.
On Friday 8th March, children and staff dressed up as a book character. There were some incredible costumes on display!
