St Mary's CofE Primary School
We love. We learn. We flourish.
Our vision and values
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens in God’s world.
Our school is a community where Christ is the centre. Every individual is appreciated and valued. All are encouraged to develop their full potential: spiritually, morally, intellectually and physically. The ethos of sharing, caring and friendship is fundamental to children becoming responsible citizens in God’s world.
Our vision as a Church of England school, deeply rooted in a strong Christian tradition, is to develop happy children with enquiring minds. We support children to develop a spirit of curiosity and respect for themselves, others, and the environment which we live in so that they will have the skills and resilience to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
As part of the Diocese of Manchester, we have a shared vision;
‘to be a worshipping, growing and transforming Christian presence at the heart of every community, wanting to be a Church for a Different World’.
The Diocese seek to articulate their vision and Christian values through accessible and engaging means:
Our long standing, theologically rooted school vision draws inspiration from the greatest commandment, which is to ‘Love your Lord your God and to Love your Neighbour’ in the gospel of Matthew 22: 34-40, reflecting on the Love we have for God and for those in our school community, promoting the six core theologian concepts: Creation, Incarnation, The Trinity, Love, Salvation and Reconciliation.
We strive to provide the loving environment that enables our children and adults to develop positive learning behaviours, academic learning, rich experiences and Christian values to enable them to flourish. Within our community, we nurture growth and provide support so that everyone has the courage to face challenge and the resilience to persevere, even when confronted by difficulties. We endeavour to provide abundant opportunities which provide a platform for unique strengths and talents to blossom. We aim that everyone feels valued and has respect for themselves, others and the environment in which we live.
Our mission, as a school with a religious character, is to provide an education of depth and quality in a Christian ethos of ‘Sharing, caring and friendship being fundamental to children becoming responsible citizens in God’s world’. We do this by ensuring the children and adults have the nurturing and aspirational environment to reach their full potential, living life in all its fullness.
To realise our mission, we endeavour to live out our theologically rooted vision through our school motto:
The school's Christian vision is based on the greatest commandment to love God, and to love your neighbour, enabling all to flourish.
Love the Lord your God
With all your heart
And with all your soul
And with all your mind
Love your neighbour
As yourself
Matthew 22: 34-40
