Home from hospital service

Bert's journey from hospital to home with our British Red Cross volunteer

Delayed transfers home from hospital cost the NHS £170 million a year. So the British Red Cross step in help by helping thousands of people home from hospital every year. The service doesn't stop at the door - our volunteers take care of all the little things that can make a big difference in keeping people living independently.

Graham's story | Help someone who's isolated this winter | British Red Cross

Graham was discharged from hospital the day before the UK went into lockdown. Recovering from kidney surgery, and feeling isolated at home, he needed someone to lean on. That's where the British Red Cross stepped in - stocking up Graham's fridge, chatting to him and helping him feel less lonely.
