Why are stories are special?

This week, the children explored why some stories are special to people and learned about the Bible story of Jesus calming the storm. They discovered that special stories can teach us important lessons, offer comfort, and help guide the way we live. The children made thoughtful links between this story and our literacy focus book, The Storm Whale, comparing how Jesus helped his disciples feel safe during the storm with how the dad cared for and comforted his son. Through discussion, storytelling, and creating their own storm scenes, the children enjoyed retelling the Bible story while exploring its message of faith, trust, courage and staying calm during difficult times.

Why are stories special?

This week in RE, the children explored the idea of special stories and where they can be found. They discovered that Christians read special stories in the Bible, Muslims read the Qur'an, and Jewish people read the Torah. We also shared Mrs Jones' favourite Bible story, Noah's Ark. The children were full of curiosity and asked lots of thoughtful "why?" questions as we discussed the story. They then created their own favourite books to share with the class, explaining why they had chosen them. During continuous provision, the children enjoyed reading a variety of stories and even found animals to recreate the "two by two" journey from Noah's Ark, bringing the story to life through their play.

This week in Wiggle Worship we continued to look at the differences/similarities between a church and a mosque.  We sorted some images out into different piles. The children did a great job at remembering all of the facts we learnt about.

We even found out that Berry the Bear had visited a Mosque. 🕌

This week in our Wiggle Worship we heard the last part of the Easter story.  The children helped me to retell the parts we have already heard.  This half term we have learnt all about -

Palm Sunday: Jesus rides into town, and people wave leaves to celebrate his arrival.

The Last Supper: Jesus shares a special dinner with his friends, teaching them to love each other.

The Cross: Jesus dies on the cross, demonstrating ultimate love and forgiveness for all, even those who hurt him.

The Tomb & Resurrection: Jesus is buried, but after three days, the stone is rolled away, and he is alive again, defeating death.

New Life: Jesus visits his friends, proving he is alive, and teaches them that they never have to be alone.
