St Mary's CofE Primary School
We love. We learn. We flourish.
Our Year 6 Leavers’ Service at church was a wonderful and moving occasion, giving us the opportunity to celebrate our children, all they have achieved during their time at St Mary’s, and to wish them every success as they begin their next chapter at secondary school.
As part of the service, Brian Elson delivered an important message on behalf of the governors, encouraging the children to remember three simple things as they move forward:
Year 6,
You have now reached the end of your journey at St Mary’s. Before you head off to enjoy your summer holidays and get ready for your next big adventure, I would like to say goodbye to you on behalf of all the governors.
Some of you have been part of St Mary’s since you were very young, while others joined more recently. But whenever you arrived, this school has been part of your story, and now a new chapter is about to begin.
Starting something new can bring lots of different feelings. Some of you may feel excited, some may feel nervous, and many of you may feel a bit of both. That is completely normal. As you move on to the next stage of your education, I would like to leave you with three simple things to remember.
It’s as easy as A, B, C:
A is for Adapt — take things one step at a time. New places, new teachers and new routines can feel strange at first, but give yourself time and believe in yourself.
B is for Be ambitious — aim high, work hard and never be afraid to try your best. You are capable of more than you may realise.
C is for Carry the St Mary’s spirit with you — be kind, be respectful, be brave and be the wonderful young people that you are, wherever you go next.
If you remember these three things, I am sure you will do brilliantly and flourish in your new schools.
We are so proud of every one of you and all that you have achieved at St Mary’s. Enjoy your summer, believe in yourselves, and go forward with confidence.
Thank you, and good luck, Year 6.
It was a fitting message for a very special group of children and a reminder of the values they will take with them beyond St Mary’s. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and wish them happiness, confidence and every success as they take their next steps.
