St Mary's CofE Primary School
We love. We learn. We flourish.
In reception we focused on the Christian harvest festival where we looked at giving thanks for what we have. Other classes looked at harvest festivals from around the world and various religions such as Ongkor and Thanksgiving.
We read the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ and discussed how we would be much kinder than her friends and we would work as a team.
We planned a recipe, gathered the ingredients and began mixing them to make our delicious bread.
We learned about how flour was made, what yeast does and how to measure, knead and bake.
After we had baked our bread we all got to try some, it was delicious!
We talked about how it had changed from being soft and smooth like playdough, to rough and squishy like a sponge when it was cooked!
We think the little red hen would have been happy to have a team like us to help make her bread.
