We love. We learn. We flourish.
This year the children went to Cockfields farm, it was a very busy day full of tractor rides, animal spotting and petting, disco dancing and park fun! The giant pillow was a huge hit and we were so brave holding spiders and snakes!
The nursery and reception children embarked on an exciting adventure to Smithills Farm, Bolton, a day filled with discovery and learning!
They explored the farm learning new names of farm animals and seeing their babies. The children were so excited to hold baby chicks and rabbits, stroke goats, lamas, owls and alpacas while learning interesting facts about them. The highlight of the trip was the bumpy tractor ride through the fields, where they met the greedy donkeys and Dave the horse. They learned about farming machinery in the cow shed and were amazed to see how much milk they made which turned into ice cream right there on the farm! The children enjoyed the donkey rides which allowed them to meet the larger animals up close. This hands-on experience allowed the children to have an understanding of the role of a farm and where food comes from giving the children an opportunity for new life experiences. It is important for each child to have an understanding of the world around them and we were able to link learning in the class room to real-life experiences in a meaningful way.
