We love. We learn. We flourish.

Year 4

The Mayan’s grew maize and would use the corn to make tortillas wraps. We used the tortilla wraps to fry and make tortilla chips. As Maya is what we now know as Mexico, we made a vegetable chilli to eat with them.

Fun facts:

The Maya would farm and grow crops to feed their community

Corn would make up 80% of the Maya’s diet

tortilla wraps would be made regularly during ancient Maya

Cacao would also make up a large part of the Maya diet. They would drink hot chocolate but not the sweet hot chocolate we are used to. It would be a bitter drink and would sometimes be made with a hint of chilli.
