Spring 2
This half term in maths, the children will be exploring number and pattern through fun, hands-on activities. They will begin by making patterns together, copying and continuing simple patterns using objects and actions. The children will enjoy making games and actions to help them recognise numbers and amounts.
We will practise counting by responding to prompts such as “Show me 5” and learning to stop at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 when counting. The children will also be encouraged to create my own pattern, sharing their ideas and leading their learning.
Finally, we will focus on match, sort and compare, helping the children talk about quantities and notice similarities and differences between groups. Through these playful experiences, the children will continue to build confidence and enjoyment in maths.
