St Mary's CofE Primary School
We love. We learn. We flourish.
This half term our topic is Winter Wonderland!
We are exploring the story Stick Man by Julia Donaldson, getting to know the characters and following Stick Man’s exciting journey. We have been learning about the winter setting and noticing seasonal changes — frosty mornings, chilly days and bare trees — while celebrating all things Christmas!
In Nursery, we continue to build our fine motor skills through festive activities such as cutting, sticking and mark-making in “snow.” We have also loved creating our own Stick Man characters and preparing for our amazing Nativity show, where the children shone so confidently and proudly!
On December 1st we had our visitor Buddy the Elf come to visit us too!
In Phonics, we are exploring instrumental sounds — discovering how different instruments make different noises and using rhythm and beat in our learning. We have even been making our own instruments to play along to winter and Christmas music!
It has been a magical Winter Wonderland topic — full of imagination, adventure and festive sparkle!
