St Mary's CofE Primary School - 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind...Love your neighbour as yourself.' Matthew 22 v37-40

St Mary's CofE Primary School

Hello and welcome to a new unit in RE. For the next few weeks, we are going to be looking at art through Christianity. Below are some pictures of different stories and aspects of Christianity. I would like you to look at them and discuss with someone else. What do you think they are about? Can you recognise and concepts or stories? Do you like the pictures? Would you do one like that or would you do it a different way?

One that I liked is in the block of 9 and shows God's light shining on the world. I am going to use that for my inspiration today. You can choose any you like and paint a picture. If you have no paints use any crayons or pastels you have around. You could even use food colouring though be extremely careful as it will dye anything it goes on! Ask an adult what you can use. Below are the pictures for you to discuss and below that will be some photos of my work for you to copy if you wish. Enjoy Year 3 and whilst you are painting either er think of the story you are painting about or what you are thankful for in your life and the world.

Below are the different stages of mine. There is a girl kneeling and looking towards God's light.  The centre is white then I have added a very small amount of green and painted another circle and I have repeated this. When I got to the green I started with, I added a miniscule amount of black  and repeated. I drew the girl then went over her with a sharpie before deciding to paint her. Hope you enjoy this
