Pupils' Pages - Year 6

Welcome to Year 6's page.

We have been working on News paper reports and have created a number of reports based on some exciting experiences we have had in school over a 2 week period. Pupils had to live the experience, record the events, plan a report and use their literacy skills to help create them. You can see Mysterious package delivered to classroom!  on this page.  Please click to see Classroom trashed! and Spooky Spectre spotted in school.

Mysterious package delivered to classroom!

On Thursday 7th April a mysterious package arrived at St. Mary's School. The instructions were that if found, the holder must ring the number shown.

The number was dialled by a pupil in Year 6 and MI6 headquarters answered. MI6 warned Year 6 to stay at least one metre away from the package and that the device inside, if not defused, could cause a major wipe-out of all computer systems operating within the area, causing disastrous effect.

Year 6 were then given a set of instructions on how to open the package and then defuse the device inside. Pupils were chosen at random to help with the task. Protective clothing had to be worn and a stethoscope was used to listen for a timer.

Those chosen cut carefully around the outside of the package to reveal a zipped bag. Then the bag was slowly unzipped to reveal the device. It was a tense moment, one slip and the device would be triggered. A cutting expert was called to disarm the wires necessary to stop the timer and finish the task. Was it the blue wire or the yellow? The yellow wire was cut but this wasn’t enough. “Everybody Down!” was the shout, as the cutting expert ran to the sink and plunged the device into the bowl of water to finally defuse it. Everyone was Safe.

The Year 6 children went on to write their own instructions.
